Working with international partners and local communities, Pact has built sustainable peace in Kenya’s border lands while also improving health. Find out more below.

Cross-border conflict has long disrupted life along Kenya’s borders. Through successful recent partnerships with the European Union Trust Fund for Africa, Pact empowered communities here to build peace and prosperity in the country’s border lands. We used systemic solutions to address root causes of cross-border conflict, worked directly with local communities to strengthen conflict-management systems, and built the capacity of regional and national institutions to stem conflict. Our programming engaged local government agencies, women, religious leaders, security forces and people vulnerable to engaging in conflict and violence. Pact also promoted economic development and greater resilience to reduce insecurity and instability, thus ushering in peace.

As a partner in USAID's MOMENTUM project, Pact is also working to improve maternal, newborn and child health, family planning and reproductive health in Kenya. Pact is strengthening the capacity of local agencies and organizations to provide critical health services.
