Lesotho

With a long history in Lesotho, Pact has helped to stop the spread of HIV here while strengthening local organizations and agencies to carry on the fight to reach epidemic control. Learn more below.

Lesotho has one of the highest HIV infection rates in the world, with many people unaware of their status. Pact has worked in Lesotho to turn back the tide of HIV and AIDS and help those living with the virus to obtain testing and treatment and lead fulfilling lives without stigma or discrimination.

Like nearly all of Pact's HIV programming, our work in Lesotho has revolved heavily around building the capacity of local organizations and agencies to respond to the epidemic. This means our work leaves a lasting impact and builds self-reliance among local communities.

Pact recently successfully completed its work under the USAID-funded EpiC project in Lesotho. Under the global project, Pact provided strategic technical assistance and direct service delivery to break through barriers to 95-95-95 and promote effective management of national HIV programs.

In the area of governance, Pact also supports efforts in Lesotho to build human rights for all and eliminate violence, particularly gender-based violence, through the global CSM-STAND project. In Lesotho, the work of Pact and our partners is reducing stigma, discrimination and violence against women and girls and LGBTQI+ communities and building the capacity of civil society organizations to advocate for LGBTQI+ rights as well as provide inclusive, quality gender-based violence prevention approaches, mitigation and response services.
