Anti-corruption Initiatives

Attempts to improve the accessibility of healthcare in Tanzania will not be successful until he problem of corruption is addressed in its healthcare facilities. Pact has joined Policy Forum, Norwegian Peoples Aid, and Research on Poverty Alleviation to help local civil society groups and faith-based institutions deal with corruption. This initiative will build the capacity of Tanzanian communities to raise public awareness of the damaging effects corruption has on everyone, and stimulate local communities to take action and monitor changes.

Our integrated approach includes:

• Providing training, technical assistance, and resources to faith-based networks and assisting them in development of advocacy campaigns.
• Facilitating public awareness through campaigns that promote public understanding of corruption and its damaging effects
• Providing anti-corruption training to health care personnel and leadership.
• Using public expenditure surveys to provide local communities with information about financial and other resources and to assist in revealing leakages in government channels.
• Providing communities with training materials that promote access to information and monitoring of health funds at the local level.
