This project is designed to contribute additional training and capacity building for local authorities and community-based organizations in Jonglei state. Unless greater assistance is provided to state and county government to maintain stability, it is unlikely that conflict can be sufficiently mitigated to allow the safe and sustainable reintegration of people back to Jonglei or for the benefits of the comprehensive peace agreement to accrue to the whole community. Pact is utilizing this funding to provide additional training and basic materials and equipment to local peace committees to strengthen their capacity to manage and mitigate violent conflict and to local peace institutions for promotion of dialogue and conflict mitigation meetings.
