- Knowledge mapping—includes a participatory process to identify information needs, sources of local and external expertise, existing intellectual capital, and pathways to a more dynamic network
- Network monitoring and impact assessment—Pact has developed a range of tools for analyzing the development of networks over time and highlighting opportunities for network strengthening
- Communities of practice—includes training staff or providing technical assistance to identify and nurture the development of member-led thematic communities of practice or sharing and learning teams
- Information brokering—includes sharing and validating case studies and best practices, developing and connecting local content, and training local coordinators to sustain networking activities
- Integration of web-based knowledge management systems—includes the creation of websites on the Impact Alliance (www.impactalliance.org) that serve as interactive centers for exchange and learning, as well as a jumping off point for interaction on a global scale
