Standards: self-certification as transformation
Public trust is in short supply in many sectors and parts of the world today. When an organization acts transparently and accountably it lays the groundwork for other organizations and institutions to follow.

Pact believes the best approach to transparency and accountability is self-regulation, which strengthens democratic governance and organizational integrity. For the past four years Pact has participated in InterAction's PVO standards review, including the Self-Certification Plus Standards review process initiated in 2004. The candor and discovery of the self-reflection process has energized Pact staff and board to greater rigor and activism as well as increased our capacity as stewards of the organization and protectors of our brand integrity. The deeper we have peered into ourselves, the more we have learned and the clearer we have became, not only about our rules and regulations but also about our purpose and principles.
