Dr. Nshimirimana Polycarpe

Project Manager, Illuminating Small-Scale Mining in Rwanda


Dr. Polycarpe Nshimirimana is project manager of the Illuminating Small-Scale Mining in Rwanda project. An Agricultural Social Economist, he has more than 20 years’ experience in community development, technical vocational and educational training (TVET), gender equality, agriculture, strategic planning and project management. During his career, Polycarpe has led partnerships with public and private sector organizations, including USAID, World Bank, World Vision, Embassies of the USA, Australia, Taiwan and Netherlands, as well as Mastercard and IKEA Foundation.

Polycarpe holds multiple qualifications and specializations, including a PhD in Education with a specialization in TVET with Open University of Tanzania, MSc in Socioeconomic Development with a specialization in planning and BA in Population Studies with Independent University of Kigali.

With more recent experience in the renewable energy sector, over the past five years Polycarpe has led capacity, enterprise and youth development programs connecting communities to private-sector lighting services in Rwanda.
